Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS)
Rectangular hollow section as such is a hollow bar, generally used to make structures which do not require great size or weight. It is easy to weld, cut, shape, and mechanize with proper knowledge and equipment. Its rectangular shape makes it possible to attain much higher resistance and robustness than angles or channels.
Its main purpose is regulating construction loads and supporting the weight of other materials and elements, such as furniture or people.
The loads these materials support generate high tensions, which may reach critical points. To prevent profiles from buckling or fracturing, they need to have excellent mechanical behavior. For that reason, these materials used to be fabricated with iron or steel, in different alloys, depending on their purpose.
